Critically acclaimed for his musicality and artistry, Nathan Berg was born in Saskatchewan and studied in Canada, the US, and France before going to the Guildhall School of Music in London where he studied with Vera Rozsa, winning the Gold Medal for singers. Other prizes followed, a.o. the Peter Pears, Kathleen Ferrier and Walther Gruner Lieder Competitions. Mr. Berg’s repertoire ranges from Bach and Handel to Mahler and Verdi. He travels extensively to perform with top orchestras and conductors and has sung Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the MSO, Mozart’s Requiem at Alice Tully Hall in New York, and Fauré’s Requiem at Carnegie Hall. A prolific recitalist, Mr. Berg has appeared in such distinguished venues as Wigmore Hall and Lincoln Center. His extensive discography includes Handel’s Theodora with Les Arts Florissants (Erato). First LMMC engagement.
Pianist Michael McMahon, well-known to LMMC audiences, is Professor at McGill, and closely associated with l'Atelier lyrique de Montréal and the Banff Arts Centre. He records for the Marquis, CBC and Analekta labels.
