Dejan Lazić - piano

Born in Zagreb in 1977, Dejan Lazić began piano and clarinet studies at an early age and won his first competition, garnering prizes for both instruments, at age 10. In 1990, he made his first recording of Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto K. 622 and Piano Concerto K. 449 with the Solisti di Zagreb. Mr. Lazić is also a successful composer, renowned for his ‘Conversazioni’ for clarinet and viola, which has been played throughout the world and for his first string quartet composed for Rostropovich’s 70th birthday gala. He has performed in top festivals and concert halls in Europe, and also in the United States, Canada, South America, Israel and the Far East, in recital and as soloist with orchestra. His recordings of works by Mozart, Chopin, Ravel and Beethoven’s Concerto No. 2 are all highly praised. Mr. Lazić also performs and records with Pieter Wispelwey, with whom he has appeared in recital for the LMMC on several occasions.
