Dutch mezzo-soprano Christianne Stotijn initially studied violin at the Amsterdam Conservatorium. In 2000, she began intensive vocal training with Uda Reinemann, and continued her vocal studies with Jard van Nes, Noelle Barker and Dame Janet Baker. Over the years she has won numerous awards, including the prestigious ECHO Rising Stars Award 2005/2006, the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award in 2005, and the Nederlandse Muziekprijs in 2008. Additionally she was selected as BBC New Generation Artist in 2007. Christianne Stotijn is a passionate interpreter of art songs. She performs regularly in the world’s leading concert venues, including London’s Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Vienna’s Musikvereinsaal and Konzerthaus, New York’s Carnegie Hall, Berlin’s Philharmonie, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, and the Salzburg Mozarteum. She has also made a name for herself in roles from operas by Handel (Tamerlano, Giulio Cesare), Monteverdi (The Coronation of Poppea) and Tchaikovsky (Pique Dame) in addition to works by Mahler, Beethoven and Frank Martin.
