Erika Geldsetzer - violin Konstantin Heidrich - cello
Sascha Frömbling - viola Dirk Mommertz - piano
Founded in 1995 at the Karlsruhe Conservatory of Music, the Quartett chose the name of the composer Gabriel Fauré out of affection for his two piano quartets. Now considered a leading European ensemble, winner of the Preis des Deutschen Musikwettbewerbes and the Parkhouse Award, it performs in such venues as Wigmore Hall, London and the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, and appears regularly at renowned festivals such as the Martha Argerich Festival and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, as well as touring in Europe, Asia, Mexico and North and South America. Quartet-in-Residence at the Karlsruhe Musikhochschule, it was the first ensemble to be awarded this distinction in 30 years, and the first piano quartet ever to receive this honour. The quartet has an extensive discography on the DG and Ars Musici labels, which has won many prizes, including a Deutsche Schallplattenpreis and ECHO Klassik for its recording of the Brahms piano quartets.
3rd appearance for the LMMC.
