Since its founding in 1991, the Trio Jean Paul has developed into one of today’s most distinguished chamber music formations. By naming the ensemble after the author Jean Paul, the members allude to their affinity for the works of Schumann and the fundamental artistic idea of making the music’s speech-like rhetorical elements the point of departure of their interpretations. An intensive collaboration with Hatto Beyerle of the Alban Berg Quartett and other musicians such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Sir Roger Norrington were important influences in the ensemble’s development. After First Prizes at international competitions in Osaka (1993) and Melbourne (1995) and at the German Music Competition, where it was the first trio in ten years to be so honoured, the Trio has performed in major music centres and at international festivals. Its growing discography of works by Schumann, Beethoven, Brahms, Shostakovich and Schoenberg, can be found on the Ars Musici and Primavera labels.

LMMC return engagement.
